I purchased a 2005 Chevrolet 4500 Kodiak that had 1600 miles on it from Bill Heard Sanford on Jan 25. I had been looking for a truck like this for about two weeks and happen to come across this one. It is loaded with all the options. Air Suspension in the rear, Air ride seats in the front, custom paint job, dvd, tv player in the back, and fold down rear seat that makes a bed. It also had a 95 gallon auxillary diamond plate fuel tank. This is when the hell began, as soon as I drove it off the lot.
When I got home, which is 150 miles away, I noticed the right rear hub cap was melted and deformed. I called the dealer back and sent a new set of hub caps. One day I was coming back from the southeast coast of Florida I noticed that the rear air suspension would not inflate. That means that the bed was riding on the frame, not a good thing to do when you are pulling a trailer. This is the first time it went to the shop.
Well it when to Bill Heard Chevrolet and they had it back quick, but did they fix the problem. I went back and picked it up again only to realize that the Air suspension was not fixed. I also started noticing an oil leak around the back tires, noticed a diesel leak from the auxillary tank that was installed from the dealer, leak around the windsheild.
So it went back to Bill Heard for another fix. They had to tear down the rearend and replace the seals on the axles. Wow only 3500 miles and rear axle seals already bad! They had to break the windsheild to get it out and now the dash sits up on one side.
They did attempt to fix the auxillary tank. They took it off and had to send it Laredo Texas to the Laredo Truck people so they could look at it. Well two weeks later a new showed up in Sanford and was installed shitty on to my POS. The new tank was a different size so it was installed 6 inches from the old one. They had to drill new holes and just covered up the old ones with the tank. The old tank left nothing exposed to the elements, the new one leaves all the hoses exposed. To top it off the auxillary gauge inside the truck does not work now. IT worked before! I have the half bed with boxes built in for storage, which I never received the keys for. The top of the bed is covered in diamond plate and is pop riveted to the bed. Well when the diesel leaked it obviously got under the diamond plate and is now coming up around the pop rivets, this is a black color, looks real shitty.
The air suspension is working ror now, however I have not hooked up another trailer to it since I got it back from Bill Heard in the Middle of April if 2006. When I picked it up I took it to a local dealer, they could not beleive the shitty work they had done on the auxillary tank.
From day one that I have had problems with this truck I have contacted the dealer on several occasions and have been passed around. I have called the GM headquarters and spoke with people at the Corporate level and gotten nowhere. I have contacted BBB and filed with them. I have also contacted a Lawyer and he is working with me on this matter. I paid 80,000 dollars for this truck and have not been able to use it. Since I have had it which is going on 17 weeks, it has been in a dealers service department for nearly 14 weeks of that. So I pay 80,000 dollars for something that is no good to me.
When I got this truck I got rid of a dually that I used to pull my trailers with. Well since this truck was in the shop for a week and a half the first go round I had to get another truck. This ordeal has cost me alot of headache and harship for my family. I will not recommend Bill Heard to anyone, in fact I will do what ever it takes to let everyone know just how corrupt this dealership is
