Westway Ford
Commits advertising fraud, uses bait and switch tactics, and assaults their customers

On Saturday September 15 I was intending to buy a new vehicle. I was not considering Ford until I saw an ad in the Dallas Morning News that seemed too good to be true. It said 2001 F150 Extended Cab trucks for $17,988 (give or take $100 as the ad is not in front of me right now) at Westway Ford. Furthermore, the ad stated 50 at this price and 250 in stock. I am certain certain of this part! Thus, Ford was forced to become an option for me with such a great deal being offered.

I went to Westway Ford. They had one 2001 model on their lot and ZERO at the promised price. Thus, the salesperson and I found the cheapest F150 extended cab on the lot and tried to get them to honor that price on that vehicle. They completely refused.

Thus, I asked for the manager and trying to bluff a little, I called my lawyer. A foreign man sat down and I hung up my cell phone. This man proceeded to assault me by poking his finger at me and started yelling at me that ads are printed 5 weeks ahead of time and I can not accuse him of adevrtising fraud. This man would not let me get a word in. I don't think I completed one sentence. He just continued yelling at me.

I asked to speak to someone higher up from him. He said that there was no one higher. I asked again, "There is no one at this dealership higher than you?" and he said NO. We eventually got in to a shouting match and then someone else came over and guess what, he was higher than this gentleman... So now they are guilty of fraud, assault, and misrepresentation...

This new person asked, "If I can have a truck for you at this price by Monday will you calm down". I said yes... To get a truck by Monday, I had to give him a $500 check to hold. He said that this showed that I was serious.

I left them a check and left the dealership. I went elsewhere and bought another CHEVY that day. I tried to get my check back on the Monday that followed and was unsuccessful so I stopped payment on it. I complained again and, at least, they refunded my stop payment fee...

I am an average working class person. I can not afford to sue these people even though I can bluff a little. Therefore, I wrote a letter to the attorney general explaining the situation. They just sent a letter back thanking me for my vigilance, but they did nothing. I wrote to the better business bureau and they said that the situation is resolved because I got my money back and I have a vehicle. I sent a letter to Ford and all they told me is that they would forward the letter to the appropriate person. Is there no one to hold these people accountable? Those of us in the working class don't have the money to hire lawyers and sue people like this so they continue to get away with fraud.
