I located a vehicle on Autotrader.com for sale by North Florida Auto at 8636 Beach Blvd in Jacksonville FL. The price was $3000.
I called about 4:30pm on Saturday to ask why a 5 year old vehicle had such low milage (had it been wrecked, or had the engine replaced). If it was okay why was the price so low?
I was told they didn't know anything about the car. (typical of a used car salesman). They assured me that the car was still available for sale but they were only open until 7pm and closed on Sunday. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me so I would have to wait until Monday, (they open at 9am).
I found they also had a web site so I looked up the vehicle there as well. On their own website the vehicle was listed at $2500. Things are sounding even more suspicious!
I called Monday morning before making the long drive to clarify the price. I was then told that the $3000 price was actually a downpayment, not the real price. I replied that the ad said the price was $3000 and that their own ad said $2500 and asked which was the actual price. Then the salesman said that the car had actually been sold on Friday at 3pm. A day before I called the first time and was told it was still available.
I was fortunate enough to call enough times and ask the right questions to avoid a costly trip and not get ripped off by these scammers. I would highly advise not doing business with these liars, manipulators and thieves. If they will lie to get you there then they will surely lie and decieve you to sell a car and don't have any of your best interests at heart.
