Ripoff I made the final payment on repairs for my car on 4/10/06, my car has been in impound since 4/03/06. A shop employee had my car impounded

In February I had my car towed into Certified Transmission for a tcc solenoid switch repair. I paid $200.00 cash deposit. I told them that I didn't have all the money necessary right away-which I was told was okay, that my car could stay there and I could give payments.

I asked about storage fees, I was told that there would be no storage fees. I made another payment by check of $98.00 in February. On April 10th I met Melvin (the mechanic) at the Piccadilly on Highway 85 in Riverdale. I gave him two checks and cash totaling &602.00. Melvin called me back approximately 15 minutes after I gave him the checks and said that his boss said he could not accept checks as he had been burned before.

I met Melvin at the check cashing on Highway 85, I cashed the checks, gave him cash money. He assured me my car would be ready the next day by 5pm. Everyday for the next week, my car was still being worked on, at one point I was told that a part had to be ordered. My daughter and son-in-law went to the shop and called me and told me that my car eas not there.

The next day I called the shop and I talked to Chris-who told me that my car was being worked on when I kept pressuring him to give me a date as when my car would be ready, he hung up on me. I contacted Melvin who told me that he did not know where my car was. That while he was out, Chris had gotten rid of five cars.

Melvin was also telling me that the car was being worked on the previous week. On the 17th I did some calling around and found out that Chris had called Tara and had my car towed and impounded on April 3rd. When I spoke to Tara, the impound bill was over $300.00. Melvin assured me that on Tuesday, April 18th he would get my car out of impound (pay the impund bill), repair my car and give me back my $900.00.

I went to Tara and signed the paper and submitted a copy of my registration and drivers liscence so that Melvin could pick up the car. As of today, April 19th my car is still in impound. I faxed a copy of my receipt to Jimmy of Certified Transmission in Stockbridge, Georgia this morning.

He was contacted by my daughter this morning trying to find out who was the owner of Certified Transmission in Riverdale. I spoke to Mr. & who told me that he contacted the owner and I should be hearing from him. I have not heard back from any one yet. I am out $900.00 and my car.
