Purchased a car from Drive Time in Dallas in March of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. After a divorce my credit was horrible but I needed a car. The down payment was cheap and the payments seemed reasonable.
One month in, the blinkers stopped working. Five months in, the brakes and electrical system went out. Eight months in, the fuel pump went out.in 8 months, I had put in $1200 for repairs to this car.
I called them because I couldn't afford to make the payment and cover the repairs in November. They said to fax over my repair receipts and they would try to get me a deferment. I faxed the docs, twice, and they 'never got them'.instead they sent my account to collections.
Three months after the fuel pump went out, the water pump, intake gasket and thermostat had to be replaced - Another $400. I asked again about a deferment so I could get the car repaired. They said no, because I hadn't made my payments on time. Well duh, I wonder why.
So now the car is not running, I'm still making payments, and I haven't even had the thing for a year. DO NOT buy from these people. I know at least 2 other people in my area who had similar problems. They say they will 'work with you' but they won't.
