I went into shawnee mission kia with good intentions. I had called them before i went to the car lot. I had a 1993 chevy corsica to trade in. They told me that they could help me for sure. I get there we talked for a few minutes about my options. THEY HAD ME APPROVED so we went out to look at the cars they had for me to choose from it was 1 of 1 cars of course. It was a 1998 ford escort. With 123,000 miles on it.
They assured me that it was in tip top shape. I test drove it for the night. It seemed to run fine. The next day I went in there to sign papers. The sales guy was giving us the run around. My boyfriend was getting heated so he went outside for some air. The sales guy had told me that i better calm him down if i want him to go home tonight. I took that as a threat.
We got to signing the papers and they only were giving me $1 for my one running 1993 corsica that had a little more miles on it that the car they were selling me for$5.400. We asked them if we could keep the corsica because they would not give us what is was worth. They said they had to take me out of a car to put me into a car.
We agreed to do that. I purchased the car in August. I had to replace tires 2 monthes after purchase, replace a battery, now 6 monthes into the loan the motor is blown. I contacted shawnee mission kia told them about the motor being blown. Mr sims at kia told me that they would only pay $700 towards getting it fixed. I would have to come up with $500 now and that they would have peoples auto credit tack the remainder $750 onto the loan.
I said i would not do that. The way i feel about it is that I traded in a running car, $500 down payment and i have already payed $2000 in payments I still owe $3700 on the car if they were to add another $750 onto the loan i will owe $4500 on the car. Well the blue book value on the car running is $1070 so the car is well payed for
Shawnee kia tryed to tell me i need this car payment to help rebuild my credit. They made me feel like i had no other option. The motor they wanted to put in my car wasnt even new it was used and wanted to charge me a total of $1,873 to put the used motor in.
Now i refuse to pay on the car and risk having a repo on my credit. For a car i believe if it was in good running condition like they said the motor would have not blown in a 6 month time frame.
So at that i would recommend to anyone wanting or thinking about using shawnee mission kia dont do it.
