Shawnee Mission Kia Ripped Me Off!

I purchased a vehicle at Shawnee Mission Kia in October. My husband wrecked the only vehicle we had and we were desperate to buy another vehicle. I had $1,000 cash to put down. I heard their ad on the radio and thought I would check them out. I had never purchased a vehicle before and did not know how to go about doing so. I called them and set up a time to go in and speak with them. I was told that I only qualified for the alternative finance program with People's Auto Credit. At first they showed me some cars that I didn't feel would even make it off the lot. I was told that because of my credit I would not have much choice. I picked out the car that I wanted and ended up buying it. I paid my payments faithfully for 2 and a half years and was very rarely late. Then everything came to a screaching halt. My husband developed some health problems and had to spend some time in the hospital.By this time I only owed $750. I called People's Auto Credit (which by the way is owned by Pat Morrissey, the same person that owns the dealership) and told them my situation and they said that it would be okay if my payment is late. 2 days later they sent somone to my place of employment to pick up my car. I called People's Auto Credit and told them that I had just enough cash on me to catch up on omy payments. I was told that they did not want my money, they wanted my car. I drove down to the Kia dealership with this tow truck driver tailing me like I was some kind of criminal and tried to talk to them about it. I was told that there was nothing they could do. The manager at People's Auto Credit met me there and proceeded to tell me that she was taking my car and there is nothing I can do about it. I tried again to give her the money and she refused it again. She screamed at me in front of everyone in the building and said that I needed to leave the premises or she was going to call the police. I asked her how I was going to leave if they are taking my car. I never raised my voice to her and did not disrespect her in any way. She was very rude. She told the tow truck driver not let me get my things out of the car. I told her that I am taking them and if this is a problem then maybe she needed to go ahead and call the police. As I was taking my belongings the guy was trying to drive off with me still hanging halfway out of the car still trying to get my stuff. I had to call my work and make arrangements for someone to pick me up and I had to rent a car to get home as I live 50 miles from my place of employment. I was told by Debbie (People's Auto Credit) that I had to pay the full $750 within 3 days or I would not be able to take my car back. I tried to call and speak to Debbie's manager (Dana) and was told that she did not wish to speak to me. I borrowed the money from a friend and paid them off in less than 2 days. I recently tried to purchase a new automobile and was told that it is impossible because there is a paid repossession reported on my credit bureau. Not only did they embarass me beyond belief but they destroyed my credit as well. I have since been told that I am not the first person this has happened to and I will probably not be the last. They wait until you get your vehicle almost paid off and if you are even a week or two weeks late they take it from you. I don't know how they sleep at night knowing how they treat people. As of now I am trying to have this taken off of my credit bureau and I have been trying to find an attorney to take this case. I haven't had much luck, but I will keep trying because I don't want anybody else to go through what I have been through with them.
