1996 Ford Windstar Head Gaskets!
Ford finally admitted a problem with the head gaskets on the 1994/5 3.8L engines in Ford Winstar and other vehicles. They extended the warranty on those vehicles. Our engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $4000.00 as a result of the identical head gasket problem, but the extended warranty does not apply to the 1996 model year. (yet) We had a $2000.00 hit while Ford agreed to pay 40% and the dealer kicked in with 10%.
We had an extended warranty which ran out about three months before the problem, and the vehicle was well maintained. It only had 127,000 k at the time of the failure.
We have complained and requested full reimbursement but to my shock and dismay, Ford refused. Little do they know that I will never go away. (except from a Ford showroom!)
