We bought a vehicle and financed it through Charter One and of course Citizens Bank bought them out so now they are the bank we deal with now.
My husband filed for a deferment in Dec. 2004 and it never got completed because they never sent out the paperwork and we must of forgot about it since we didn't recieve anything. Now NOVEMBER almost 11 months later we recieve a late notice in the mail for a missed payment. We owed $480 (our payment) plus $497 in LATE FEES.
We were never contacted before about this missed payment. It took them 2-3 weeks to figure out where we were behind at. We heard 3 excuses. WE heard that our MONEYORDER bounced in March of 05.
Then we heard that in NOVEMBER 04 our Direct debit bounced (NEVER had a direct debit) then finally they told us about this deferment.
To make a long story short. According to "their records" they sent and called many times on this missed payment throughout the year (which they have not). I suggested that maybe they were sending it to our old address (but I updated our new address in NOvember.) They manager then said no your husband had called us in March 05 to update the address and told us your new address was 117 Windham DRive in South Carolina.
WE NEVER LIVED IN SOUTH CAROLINA. That piece of info. Was the third time they told us something that totally didn't even pertain to our account.
NOw everytime I spoke to these people, they are so rude. I went into a branch and the girl even spoke to them and when she got off the phone, she said you are right they are rude. I filed a complaint to the better business bureau. OH and because of this, on my hubby's credit report, every month since dec. 04 is in red (30 days deliquent) his credit is shot, we cannot even go and refinance.
