I went to one of the Austin Tx stores for the $99 special. My story is like most of the rest, however I have a brother who is a top notch brake man and have worked on some brakes myself so I knew what to watch out for. I was told it was bad and needed around $600's worth of work.
As the Tech took me around the car to explain what was needed, he told me that the rear drums could not be turned that they needed to be replaced. To his suprise I asked him to prove that they could not be turned. He looked shocked an it took him a second to gather himself.
Not only was he was unable to prove that they could not be turned he proved that there was enough metal left to possibly turn them twice. The whole brake system looked dirty as normal, but no leaks. I got the $99 dollar special, but I had to watch them close.
