I had a car loan with Onyx Acceptance Corp. My car was totalled and I was working with Onyx to get the loan paid off. Between the insurance and the warranty refund I should have owed nothing. Now I somehow owe $550 in late charges... Onyx told me that they were working with the warranty company to get my warranty refund which would pay off the loan after the insurance settlement. Meanwhile evidently Capital One Auto Finance took the loan over and waited to contact me for several weeks. During this time I am still trying to get someone from Onyx to return my calls. If you look at Onxy website it says it is a Capital One Auto Finance company.
When Capital One did contact me they were very rude. I told them I had no idea who they were and had no business with them, which as far as I knew at that point I didn't. No one to this day has ever provided me with a statement or proof that my loan is even with them. I have never rec'd any information from either company and am evidently being charged late charges as time goes on. When you call them to try and settle things they are rude and accuse you of ridiculous things and try to strong arm you and won't work with you. I have no idea what the heck happened here or who my loan is with for sure. Last week I finally gave in to get things done and gave $550 toward what was owed on the car with the understanding that when my warranty check came back I would be done. Hopefully I didn't get hoaxed into a scam and lose my money.
A day or so ago I rec'd two different letters from the company stating that they are unable to contact me so they are going to write it off or something crazy like that. Two letters the same day stating different things dated after I paid, both dated after I paid the $550. I'm still getting calls as well. Now how can they get me these ugly threatening letters, but can not provide me any proof they have my loan. I asked 2 weeks ago now for them to mail me some proof that they had my loan and a statement. Nothing. How come I can't get any info from them showing my loan was moved? How come Onyx never contacted me stating that they had turned the loan over to Cap One? I have no statement from anyone and no matter what number I call associated with the two companies I end up in the same department with these Capital One Auto Finance idiots who don't know anything. You ask to talk to their manager and they tell you no. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever had to deal with.
