RIPOFF Leaking battery positive terminal, acid burned through wires Internet

2001 Chevy Cavalier purchased new. Tampa, Florida

September 23 - My service light came on, on the way to work.

The next day I asked my Dad to take a look at car. He pluged his diagnotist tool up and got a code for my daytime running lights.

One light was barely on the the other one was shining brighter then normal. He popped the hood to discover the battery was wet and leaking from the positive terminal. Under the battery you could see the wiring had acid all over them.

After he removed the battery you could see all the damage the acid had done. The acid had ate the wires, leaked on the transmission and the metal plate the battery sits on in the car was completely corroaded.

After some discussion about the problem I remembered something similar happening before. After a phone call to a local dealership, I questioned what services had been performed on my car a couple of years ago.

The woman on the line mentioned a leaking battery and some wiring needing to be replaced in July. After I told her I was having the same problem she replied, "Oh, that problems been going on for 8 or 9 years. The first time the battery is replaced under warranty and then it becomes the customer's problem."

I then questioned if they knew about the problem then why in the world would they put an AC Delco battery back into my car?
She did't have an answer to that question.

I had the woman at the dealership fax me a copy of my work order and we took pictures of the new damage to my car. Apparently there is a class action lawsuit against AC Delco. They need to place a recall on this battery before some gets hurt.

I will be completely happy if they reimbursed me for the cost of my new DURALAST battery and recall their crappy leaking battery that is ruining people's cars everywhere.
