I had just moved to Greensboro and I was in need of a car. On 8-23-02, my daughter and I went to Saturn of Greensboro dealership to purchase a used car. I looked at a van that was parked close to the street when salesman Jonathan F. Hall approached us.
He told us that he would not sell that van to anyone because it was in poor running condition and that it had been sitting on the lot for months.
He steared us away from the van and showed us a 98 Ford Escort Stationwagon parked outside the showroom. He told me about the wonderful cruise control and the rack on the roof. I told him that I wanted a car with good brakes, good gas mileage, and all around good performance. He just kept on talking how wonderful a car it is.
I was working full-time and in the process of moving, and my daughter was driving the car. She told me that there was something wrong with the brakes, that they felt sponchy. The engine seemed to be dragging.
I called the salesman and I informed him about it. He told me that brakes felt this way because of the humidity, but he never addressed the other problem. I decided to take the car to a brake sevice on my first day off. On 8-31-02, I had an accident and never had the chance to take the car to the brake service. The airbags did not deploy and my granddaughter and I got injured. The module for the airbags was not working and the brakes were in poor condition. The car is still dragging.
I am not familiar with the Carfax system and therefore didn't know what I was shown. Had I been shown the whole print-out and had it explained to me, I would never purchased the car. Mr Chabot from Ford Motor Corporation send me to a Ford dealership to have the airbag system checked and the brakes fixed. The Ford dealership gave me the complete Carfax printout which showed that the car had 6 DMV inspections, that it was used for commercial purpose, and never had been seen by a Ford authorized dealer, eventhough it was under full warranty.
Had I been given this information by Jonathan F. Hall, I would never purchased the car. I believe that because of their deception I got hurt.
I have not been able to go back to work. I will need surgery. The car still doesn' run as it should (we used to own a Ford Escort) I don't feel comfortable driven the car, but it is my only mode of transportation. I am stuck because I can't buy another car without work.
I feel ripped off.
