Hello you fellow dealership repair scam sufferers! Although all dealership repair shops pull the standard scams to maximize their profit, this one must have had long term study done, because they do it so smoothly. I've been to at least 20 different dealerships to fix my various cars over the years, but man this one tops them all.
I went there for a routine oil change (which they said will be 2 hours and about $29), so I signed for it. Then 2 hours goes by and the service rep come in and shows me a burned piece of rubber and says my timing belt is all worn out. I said, you guys got into my engine without my authorization?
So he looks at the order and says Oh I am sorry, but good thing we did otherwise it could have stranded you on the road. I told him that I am very familiar with symptoms of broken time belt and my car showed no such signs. So he says I'll bring you a copy of our certified mechnic's report.
He comes back 1/2 an hour later. I asked him, what took so long - flustered and searching for B.S., he said that the first report had been misplaced and another one had to be wrirtten. I did not believe him, and said show me the car - he said I can not let you in the shop and the car is not driveable.
I said fine let me think about it. So he left me in the waiting area. I walked around their building to the other side of the shop. My car was sitting there untouched (the dirt by the hood where is lifted was still there). I got in, used my main key and ran for my life! They still have my spare key. What's funny - I have not received one call from them to date!
