Stay away from ALL AAMCO Transmission Centers Ripoff

Started in Des Plaines, IL. AAMCO rebuilt transmission in May. While driving it on the expressway to Detroit, it would not go into overdrive (4th gear) and the cruise control no longer worked. Took it to the AAMCO in Dearborn Heights who had it for 3 weeks claiming they were waiting for parts. Finally got the car back. Drove it for 2 months and noticed it was leaking transmission fluid.

Took it back to Dearborn Heights AAMCO. Had the car for a week and told me nothing was wrong. Drove the car for another month and noticed the transmission was still leaking. Took it back. They had the car for 3 more weeks and replaced the front pump and rebuilt it. Got the car back in Oct. Drove the car 5000 miles and it completely died on I-495 in Washington, DC. Took the car to the Vienna VA AAMCO Center. They told me that the Dearborn Heights AAMCO had put a part in upside-down and had cross threaded bolts, etc... They had the car for 3 weeks, rebuilding the transmission again.

Drove the car for 100 miles and the transmission was toast. Took it back to AAMCO and they rebuilt the transmission again. Had it another week. When I got it back, I took it back to them and told them there was a whine in first gear. They assured me it was not problem. 4500 miles later, the transmission (2000 miles off of warranty) goes totally dead in West Point New York. AAMCO customer services says there is nothing I can do. It's off of warranty. Hell, they never fixed this car right. The best offer I've had it to tow it back to Des Plaines and they'll pull it apart and look at it and give me a "good deal" on another rebuild. Transmission Experts. Think again. Run, don't walk away for AAMCO. These guys are inept. There customer server representatives are nothing more than call takers who do little of nothing to help the customer. Avoid AAMCO. I am initiating legal action. If anyone is interested, perhaps we could get a class action going. This needs to stop.
