I stated earlier that I received a letter from MGC. I did some research. I looked at a copy of my credit report from Experian and found that I had an old bill from Ameristar Finanical for a car in 1996 for 8,876.00 I disputed this and it was taken off of my credit report, this was done in April. I also noticed that in 10 MGC had checked my credit for some reason and then in 11/04 I got a bogus bill from MCG about a sears account that was not mine, they had my name but another social security #, they left me alone on that one.
Now I received another letter saying that I owe $8,572.00 to a company called Southpoint and CFB Financial LLC is collecting. I asked MCG for CFB's phone # and they said it was illegial to give out their #. I looked at my credit report and the original account# that MCG had is the same as Ameristar Financial (Ameristat Financial had this on my credit for 7 years). Ameristar used the correct year of 1996 and it was taken off but MCG is using 2000 as the last activity date. I call Ameristar and sure enough it was them, the lady was very rude they had bought this bill from Southpoint who bought it from NAC this was settled years ago.
I asked her if she put this on my credit and she said yes that they are another company and it was legal to keep reporting this with a new date of last activity. They are not another company they are the same one's who reported it for 7 years now they are just using MCG and a different amount to get it back on my credit report. I told her that I was going to see an attornry and she said go ahead and slammed the phone in my ear.
Ameristar was hiding behind MCG to do their dirty work. What can I do about this? I have reported them to FTC, Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney's Office.
