I have Audi A4 (98) I called a week before to the repair shop asked them if they worked on that year and tyoe of car. The owner (Bill) I taked to said they have many times. I took it in Wed. 3-02-05 said they can find the problem I had told them about. My husband went after work and asked if it was ready.
Bill had said might be the belt and that should be the problem. Thursday came around my Husband went to check if it was done at 5: oo pm again. Now another problem the wiring or the water pump told Bill the owner if can't find problem please say so. Said that the thermostate had to be the problem.
So Friday at 5;00 pm came around still was not done and asked if looked at the thermostate Bill said NO it was the 1000.00 dollar estimate for the water pump but wasn't sure it was the problem.
I made my husband tell the owner (Bill) to stop working on the car and if he wasn't sure what he was doing then I Don't want a him touching my car. After 600.00 dollars in repairs I had to still two my car home. I had never experienced a mechanic that never looked or hooked the car computer to see the problem. I think If I kept my car there he would wanted to do more unecessary repairs.
