My father brought his 1999 Mercury Grand Marque into the dealer repair facility for a noise he had in the rear of the vehicle, he was told he needed front and rear brakes which he authorized to be done. He was called later and told the tie rod ends needed to be replaced and a wheel alinement done, he authorized that also.
When he picked up the car he paid the bill, which he thought was high but didn't question it because he had somewhere to go, when he arrived home he went over the bill and found 450.00 worth of work he didn't authorize. He wrote the dealer and never heard from them until I e-mailed the dealer manager and service manager, who then called and told him those services need to be done at 30000 miles, of which he has on his vehicle, but he never authorized any of them.
They flushed the cooling system and changed the transmission fluid which the mechanic said was brown, the only thing is that I check his fluid levels on his car and the fluid was clean and bright red and no burnt smell, funny how in 500 miles it could change that much. I asked if he checked the oil and was told that wasn't on the repair order, but they themself checked the cooling system and transmission fluid without anyone asking.
The service writer {Richard Schaefer} is a liar and a bull sh* artist along with the service manager {Jeff Ginsburg}.
Don't buy or have any service work done at this dealer.
