So I live in the small town of Ferndale CA. Due to some brilliant thinking on the part of USPS Management, for some time our mail and parcels have been routed to Fortuna PO first. Fortuna PO decides whether the address on the parcel or mail is OK, according to their ideas, they have no clue about Ferndale addresses. Next thing is in Ferndale we do not have street mail delivery, we all have P O Boxes. So when a shipper sends a parcel to me by USPS addressed to my street address, Fortuna PO returns it undeliverable. Even though I use the zip code format for this situation, zip 4, the last 4 digits are the P O Box number. So instead of simply forwarding all the mail/parcels addressed to ANYWHERE in Ferndale to the Ferndale post office where they will be correctly delivered. These folks send the mail/parcel back to the shipper as undeliverable. This costs me and/or the recipient money. This is driving flocks of people to use UPS or FedEx because they ALWAYS deliver to the correct address. And Fortuna PO has been told the simple remedy of just forwarding mail/parcels with questionable addresses in Ferndale to the Ferndale PO. But they REFUSE to do that. I am sorry but this is typical of why USPS is going out of business.
