I bought a 99 ford taurus last feb. I went to my agent and they said the hartford was the cheapest insurance i could find. I got a policy with full coverage, being only 20 years old, the insurance was still quite high. I was paying 186$ a month, thats more than the payments. Well, i got a new checking account and called them to change it so my automatic payment would come out with no problems. After not seeing a charge on my account, i called the Hartford to see if everything was alright, i was assured everything was fine.
Two days later i recieve a cancellation notice in the mail, they tried to charge my old checking account. I called and was treated rudely, by a man demanding my debit card info so he can charge the payment. When i started up the policy, i spoke with several reps to see if i can pay a lump sum from my income tax return to lower the monthly payments, again i was assured i could do that. No, the payment actually went in and paid my next 2 months. I recently called to see how much my premium will lowere when i turn 21, the woman couldnt even give me that information! Then i mentioned checking with other companies, and she tried to tell me that there is a cancellation fee for ending your policy before it expires!
Everytime you talk to somebody there you get completly different information. I have never had an accident or a ticket, but i cannot imagine what hell this company would put me through if i needed to file a claim! I contacted a lady from Another insurance, and as of my 21st birthday i am cancelling the Hartford and getting the same thing and renters insurance for 60$ less a month. I would seriously re-consider doing business with an insurance company like this who cannot even handle billing problems!!!
