The Burrito Especial Chicken from Rubios contains a substantial dose of MSG (monosodium glutamate). I had a dinner consisting of a quarter of a Burrito Especial Chicken and water which produced a very distinct reaction to MSG which I know well from experience: I immediately experience a mild mental confusion follow by multiple seizures over several days following MSG exposure. This is exactly what occurred when I ate Rubios Burrito Especial
Chicken. No other compound or exposure produces this experience for me.
Rubios claims their food is MSG free. This is false in all but the most technical and legalistic sense. The FDA defines MSG as a substance containing 99% or more MSG. Therefore, if you have a product such as autolyzed yeast extract that is 90% MSG, you are legally permitted by corrupt US regulatory agencies to claim that your product is MSG free. So, the Burrito Especial Chicken contains quite a bit of MSG, but probably no 99% pure MSG ingredients. Im
pretty confident it contains a high enough dose of MSG to give anyone with any sort of MSG sensitivity a reaction and to harm the health of all people in the subtle way MSG does. We are not talking about a trivial concentration of MSG here.
Basically, if you agree with the FDA that 90% pure MSG products are MSG free, then Rubios food is MSG free. If you believe that MSG free means a food product that doesnt contain enough MSG to cause an MSG reaction
in sensitive individuals, then Rubios claim of their food being MSG free is absolutely and clearly false.
Dont eat at Rubios if you want to avoid MSG (monosodium glutamate)!
