A couple of weeks ago, a few friends and myself decided to have a late night supper. We live in a very small town and nothing was open but Waffle House. We had all just gotten off work, and were tired and hungry. There were about 6 in our group, so we took a booth. The store was NOT busy when we sat down to eat, nevertheless it took someone going to the counter to request someone take our drink order before we were served. Luckily we were not in a hurry. We had all finished our drinks and still no one had come to see about taking our order.
I was getting aggrivated, so I got up and stopped a waitress and asked if she could take our order. She replied in a rude manner that we were not her table, or her problem and WALKED AWAY. I confronted her again and asked her who our waitress was, she told me Ms. Frieda and once again WALKED AWAY. Now I was mad.in a very loud voice I called MS. FRIEDA! The woman turned around and told me that I was being rude. I WAS BEING RUDE!!! We timed her, and it STILL took her 10 minutes to come and take our order.
My friend decided to be adventurous and order a pecan waffle. Living in the deep south we encounter pecans on a regular basis, most of us have the damn trees in our yard. Well, I ordered cheese grits, and when I got them it was a bowl of cold grits with a slice of unmelted american cheese on top. I sent it back and asked them to microwave it or something, and Ms. Frieda informed me that waffle house does NOT have a microwave.
Another girl who was sitting with us got an order of RAW hashbrowns, and was told that since they were taken off the grill they could not be put back on, and what was she supposed to do about it? Well, the girl told her to bring her hashbrowns that were cooked this time. She brought her an order that was so burnt they were inedible.
Well my friend that ordered the pecan waffle took one bite and gagged. It was cold, and when I tried it the pecans were sour. If you have ever had a sour pecan, you know it is not a pleasant thing. Well, once again we had to battle to get Frieda's attention, and when we finally did she started talking to my friend like she was a child. She was saying things like "Do you KNOOW what a pecan is?" "Have you ever eaten a waffle before?" "What do you want me to do about it?" And so on. Well, appetites ruined we all got up to leave. We were just going to walk out, because we had not eaten anything, but the manager told us that he would call the police and have us arrested for theft if we did not pay, so we paid.
Later I found out from another friend that the manager had rear ended her at a stoplight and drove off. She called 911 on her cell and when he was caught, he did not remember hitting her cause he was drunk. None of the people with me that night have returned to waffle house. We would rather starve.
