Cheeseburgers in Paradise are going to go to hell at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville! I'm an ex - employee of Margaritaville of New Orleans and now is about time somebody came up and spoke out about their General Manager's very unethical business practices! I have heard frightening things from employees I cannot wait for the city to investigate about!!!
I'm too broke at the moment to do anything so a file in the Ripp Off report will be a first step, hopefully bringing out other ex employees to speak out too!!!
I'm going to start with the mild points I've knnown all along to the atrocious thing I heard from another employee there!!!
First, the city did not allow a third floor within the premisces, General Manager Bret Brown did go ahead and installed a third floor to have his offices there, a litle stairway from the back kitchen leads to it, clever since there's a second office downstairs where ALL business related people and clients go to! No one is aware of the third floor, just the employees who half the time don't even know it's not supposed to be there to start with.
On to another fact. I've heard Bret Brown yell at employees calling them names like "moron", "cunt" and "bitch", especially in the kitchen where no customer is around to hear. I can't name employee names. Some work there still.
When hurricane Lilli and Isidore struck New Orleans, employees had to keep working in the restaurant until and if a warning for immediate evacuation would be issued!!! ALL others restaurants in the french quarter were closed, there were 2 customers in the entire damn place! Who gives a damn about our belongings, preparations, etc? NOT Bret Brown! One almost drown her car engine on her way back from work when everybody else was barricaded inside their house!!! HE had left 2 hours early with his girlfriend too!!! Time for YOU to save your expensive house, Bret???
As if that isn't enough, Bret Brown has fired employees without even telling them! No note, no meeting to explain anything. The managers don't even know! A look at the schedule, and your name's wiped in white and you don't even know about it! IT HAPPENED so do not LIE Bret! Talk of ethical business practices with employees!
AND, let's not forget the brand new shiny elevator they installed on the first floor. What the accountant there and Bret Brown forgot to tell you, the public and potential customer, is that they found HUMAN BONES below the first floor, right underneath the elevator and those money hungry people decided to THROW AWAY everything and not tell the city to avoid further investigations i. E they would have to close the restaurant!!!
How do I know??? The accountant (Schela) let it slip out! Maybe she can explain it better, or will she lose her job too!
I choose to leave my name out of this one. I know it may hurt my credibility but I have no other way to do this, I'm currently looking for a job. It's not my fight but the city of New Orleans should investigate (if there's anything left to investigate). Now the word is out and maybe others will come forward and overcome their fear of the place.
