FASOLINI'S PIZZA CAFE is privately owned and operated by Jim & Josie Fasolini, and have to be the worst people I have encountered as an employee of theirs for 5 miserable months. They treat their employees like crap, but are also guilty of illegal, deceptive, and just plain immoral practices.
#1. Whenever they decide to "comp" meals to their personal friends, cops, or anybody of importance to them, they have to make up for their loss (exact words from owner). Their way of making up for this "loss" is to take every penny left as a tip to the waitress waiting on these people. Not only do they steal the tips from the comps, but they warn you ahead of time that if they find out you took any of the tip - you will be immediately fired!
#2. If you have been very busy and decide to take a 5 or 10 min. Break - forget it! The law in Las Vegas is employees working 4 or more hours are entitled to at least one PAID 10-15 min. Break, 6 or more hours - 2 paid breaks and one non paid 1/2 hr. Break.
One day after working their for months, and never taking a break, I was really busy and sat down with a soda after a very busy afternoon. Everything I needed to do or was ordered to do, besides waiting on tables, was done and I was just relaxing for a couple of minutes. The Nazi, Josie, was gone, and her Nazi husband, Jim, started conversation with me and never said a word to me about taking a break. When I received my check for that week, I was floored when I saw that I was docked for ONE-HALF HOUR on my check for that 10 min. Break! When I questioned it, I was very rudely told that if you want a break, you will docked for lunch!
#3. One day I was accidently bumped and the coffee pot fell to the floor and broke. I was going to replace the coffee pot and look around for the most affordable. However, this wasn't good enough for Josie, and demanded I pay her $9 for the pot!!! More than likely, the pot was $4 and she kept $5 for herself.
#4. Totally immoral people. Whenever she needed somebody, I was there to work with no problem. She asked me one day if I would work on my day off and I agreed. The next day I told her I had to leave 10 min. Early to go to a parent-teacher conference, and I thought there would be no problem since I had been such an above average employee. I was wrong!!!
She had a fit and told me that NO, I could not leave in case it got busy. Keep in mind there was never any business after 1:30 and my quitting time was 2:00. She proceeded to tell me that because I didn't not "ask" and instead "told" her I had to leave, was another reason! The topping on the cake to this one - this took place on 9/11 and people were dying that very minute in New York - where they were from!!! One more incident that I cannot fail to leave out.
The restaurant is located in a corner of a Target shopping center. One day a young man walked in with a styrofoam cup and asked is she could dispose of it because there was no garbage can outside. She was standing right next to the trash can and took the cup and asked him if he was going to eat there. He said "no" and what she did next is still totally UNBELIEVABLE to me. She gave him the cup back!!!
