My mom had a Best Buy credit card (Household Financial Servces) for a few years. When she passed away in June Household turned over her account to LDG Financial services, a collection agency. Since I was the executor of the will, this account was paid in full to LDG and I have a letter here dated June 10 that the account was settled in ful and all collection activity has ceased.
However, I am still getting collection notices on this and I called and spoke to Tammy Graves, Account Manager who signed the "settled" letter and asked why this had not been reported to Household. She said it would be taken care of. Now, once again, a year and a half later, this has been sold off to yet another collection agency, ERI Financial Services. I cannot understand why LDG refuses to notify the creditor that this account has been paid.
This has already happened once before that it was sold off and I had faxed a copy of this letter to cease collections and I was told that LDG must report the payment, which they didn't. Did LDG keep the money? I would sure like to know. As far as I cam concerned, this is fraud.
