I applied for a loan through kingsway associates about a month ago. On 9/30, I received an email stating that I was approved for $8,000. I figured right away that this was a scam because I had bad credit but I figured I would call anyways to find out the details. I spoke to a Dana Wells and she said that I was approved pending either a cosigner or $1200 western union payment for insurance. The insurance company being bernam and thorpe. I have never heard of these people so I did some research and could not find any listings on the web. I called there number and got answering services saying leave a message for Bev Weaver. I finally got to speak to someone after calling about 10 times and the woman answered as Bev Weaver. This woman was not the same woman on the machine because her voice was drastically different. I had a short conversation with the suppossed insurance company and was told that they needed to contact Dana Wells in order for them to give me any specifics of my loan. This was very odd seeing that Ms. Wells had faxed me disclosure statements, promissory notes, and the insurance policy (which all looked legal and legit, saying that kingsway has been around since 1977). I have not western unioned the $1200 because I feel that this is a scam and after reading several horror stories from kingsway customers, it makes me more sick to think that this company is robbing innocent people from there hard earned money. How can this company get away with this? Has anyone had any good experiences with them? I was told by Dana Wells that the $1200 was for an insurance policy premium. The last time I talked to her, she told me to western union the $1200 to the private lender and he would get the policy. That makes no sense seeing the lender is in canada and the insurance is in new york. I really feel bad for all the people who got suckered into the lies and deception of this company and I hope you all get your money back and then some. As far as I can see, this company is nothing more than a bunch of rip off artists and should not be able to continue on like this. I hope they get shut down and shut down real soon.
