I've been over-anal about paying all of my bills on time. According to my bank records, when I use bill-pay to pay a bill, the funds are removed from my account on the same day. The bank even provides proof of payment. When I received a 35 dollar late fee on my account, I called up to find out why, since according to my bank records, The funds were sent over on the due date. I was informed that the company converts bill pays from the bank into ACH transactions, and they can take longer to go through, even though the money was removed from my bank account.
The customer service person was nice enough, but she looked at my account history and said that she couldn't remove the late fee even though I was allowed one removal per year due to the fact I had other late fees within a 12 month period (although those had never been disputed, mainly because I didn't notice them). She said my interest rate also was raised due to late payments, although I never received notification of that either.
Despite my growing frustration, she just reiterated that I should not be using bill pay to pay my bills, and although the bank shows the funds as delivered on time, there was nothing she could do. She suggested making my payments five days early to make sure they were posted on time, which is simply not possible due to my pay periods. She then said I could change my due date, but with revolving paydays that's not going to do me any good.
I have had this account for several years and never noticed a problem, until now. It is ridiculous that a company this size would be absolutely unwilling to work with a customer with such a history of timely payments - and no missing payments.
I'm making my payments on time. It's not my fault if they're not posted fast enough on their end. This is absolutely infuriating and I will never use my card for future services again.
