WAMU does manipulate their fees!!! Our weekly direct deposit is wired into our account at Midnight on Thursday, but is not credited to the account until Friday at 8 am, AFTER they have already posted the checks to that came in that day and thus reduced the amount of money in the account to pay those checks with their manipulated fees. This automatically creates a snowball effect.
My husband and I have paid about $8000.00 in fees since January. Our account statement is horrendous to look at; there are more overdraft charges than therE are debits made by us!!! DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?
On another occasion, they incorrectly processed a $50 check for $500, thus overdrawing our account and causing our creditors to charge us fees for returned items, etc. It took about a month for them to clear up THEIR MESS; in the meantime, our credit was ruined. Its interesting how they can charge us abusively, but when they mess up, they offer no recourse and expect their customers to just sit on their hands (during Christmas, no less!)
