Ripoff smooth talking salespeople make you feel safe then vanish

Do not be fooled!!! I was an idiot and fell for the idea of getting a credit card with zero interest. We should all know that this doesn't exist, but when you've had credit problems, an offer like this can sound too good to pass up.

Advantage Plus representative Al McLane (probably a fake name) called me and offered me a Mastercard with a $2500.00 credit limit and no annual fee, monthly fee and a free vacation to go along with you accepting their offer. He said that all was needed to make this happen was for me to let them debit my bank account for the cost of an insurance policy to cover the bank if I was to run the card up to it's limit and never repay or be heard from again. The one time cost for this policy was $339.15.

I told him that I would have to speak to my wife and that he should call me back. He did call me back and I went ahead with the transaction (huge mistake). He put me through to one of those third-party verifiers where I was told that the conversation would be recorded. During this part of the transaction was when I began to become suspicious.

She told me that during this "verification process" I should only answer her questions with a "yes" or "ok" and that all my questions would need to wait until the end of the recording because they only had 60 seconds to record the entire conversation. Well, during the verification, I was told things that I was not told by the rep who had called me to make the offer. The big one that I questioned was the fact that I was told I would receive my package in the mail (the one including the card) 25 days after receipt of my payment.

Why would it take this long to process this if I have already paid? I was told that they represent several reputable companies in this offer (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, etc.) so I figured they would have to shop these companies before securing your card.

Shortly after agreeing to this I became more suspicious the longer I thought about it. I went to the Better Business Bureau website to check them out (always do this before dealing with any company you have never heard of). There I found that their address in Oklahoma was just a mail drop, their listed phone number had been disconnected, and on top of it, there had been 72 complaints filed with the bureau in the last two years. Not a single one of the complaints have been responded to by Advantage Plus and the Bureau has not been able to contact them.

Since I have gone to my bank to try and stop the charges. They were less than helpful the first two times I contacted them about the problem. They told me that they could place a stop watch on the item, but it wasn't guaranteed because the company had all my info, and since they had never debited my account before, they did not have enough info on them.

So I took some advice that I had found on this site. I got the phone number to the company that handles Advantage Plus' wire transfers. I contacted the company and they were very helpful in resolving this matter. They were able to look up the transaction in their system and tell me what check number was used and when the payment was sent.

Never do business with Advantge Plus, but, if you have already fallen victim to their schemes, contact this company for help in stopping the crooks from taking yuor money.
