I have been victimized twice; once by Kurtz Enterprises for the $14.95 unauthorized Visa check card; once by my own bank for the royal runaround they have given me for reporting the fraud.
I went to my local branch of Downey Savings and Loan. I had been directed to do so when I called the corporate office toll free number. At the branch office I was told they would take down the information and call the corporate office!
My bank immediately cancelled my Visa Check card, without giving me an opportunity to make arrangements for some outstanding payments. They questioned me about my "stolen card" and if I had left my PIN written down somewhere. They also wanted to know if anyone else lives in the house with me or if I have any hired household help!
No one in the branch office was interested in information about Kurtz Enterprises. I was told by a supervisor that she sees customers everyday who have been the victim of various types of fraudulent charges.
In a follow up call to the corporate office I was told that Downey Savings and Loan will bill Visa for the charge and it will then be Visa's responsibility to track down the culprit.in other words, make the customer feel like the criminal, and make the customer be the one inconvenienced because no one in the banking industry cares to put a stop to this.
Do any of these people wonder where all of this money goes? I don't want my $14.95 to fund some type of terrorist activity.
That is the primary reason I went to the branch office today; I wanted to do something to stop this type of activity.instead I was made to feel like a criminal, and I was the only person inconvenienced by any of this.
Downey Savings and Loan will save money by discouraging reports of disputed charges, and probably get a pat on the head from Visa. Kurtz Enterprises will continue with their fraud, as they have done for several years now.
