I accidentally stumbled across this company by typing "Salford Van Hire" into Google. The first result returned has "Salford Van Hire" in the header but you are directed to A1's site. Went ahead anyway and rented a van from A1 back in March. Although the van was delivered in good time and was in good condition, the £250 security deposit was not returned, despite email and phone reminders. After a reasonable
Time, I issued a final letter by special delivery to the Syston address on the website, warning of impending court action. The letter wasn't signed for and wasn't picked up from the local Royal Mail depot. Reissued revised letter and also emailed the text of it as a reply to my booking acknowledgement. The letter was signed for this time and the security deposit was refunded. This company appears to rely on people stopping short of giving notice of court action to retain their security deposits.

In short - to get your security deposit back, warn them of impending court action by special delivery letter and email them the same letter.
