Advanta charges late fees when payments are made on time. No joke.in the month of april i had a minimum payment of $121.00 for the month of may. I sent $200.00 to them that they received and posted on may 5th. About may 25th i happened to look on the internet to view my account. Low and behold, the $121.00 was still due with a due date of may 30. I called and asked why my payment was not applied to the statement.
They claim that i paid on the closing date and it doesn't count. Doesn't count? So i made a payment through the internet. They posted the payment 7 days later on june 1st! They sent me my bill and a $39 late charge. They will not listen to reason. Again on july 2nd i made a payment and again on my august statement was a $39.00 late charge. I called and demanded an explanation. They really can't give you one. I said you have the $121.00 payment that was late, would'nt that fall into and cover the current payment due? Total silence on the other end.
It seems to me the scam is they don't consider any payments made between and including the due date and the closing date. The scam is they hold payment and post everyone's payment between these 2 dates making everyone late collecting $39 a pop and raising the interest sky high which mine is now a whopping 30.20% they play upon the fear of those who do pay on time and care about their credit, because no one wants bad marks on their credit. So they have the power and we have to take it. My recommendation is do not accept their card or any service from them. You will get hurt and taken advanta-ge of. Kiss your money goodbye.
