I booked with A1 for the sorts of reasons that I guess many did - great price, free collection/delivery and unlimited mileage. It wasn't until I'd made my booking that I thought to search out other people's reviews of them on the web. I have to admit that I was horrified when I then found this site and discovered how many disappointed customers A1 appeared to have upset. Had I made a huge mistake? Fortunately, in my case, the answer was a definite 'no'. My experience with A1 was a very positive one. I booked a van to arrive at 4pm and, on the stroke of 4pm, a CAR turned up. Oh no, I thought. I immediately called A1, the phone answered promptly and I spoke to a very helpful chap called George. The mistake had been made by my local Hertz branch, not A1, but George quickly arranged with me that I could drive straight to Hertz and swap the car for a van. Of course I would rather have not had any problems but I was more than happy that a solution was quickly found. The swap was made and I was able to enjoy my van hire, as planned. Following the hire, the £250 deposit I paid was back in my account within two days of the van being returned to Hertz. As far as I am concerned, my overall experience with A1 has been a very positive one and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
