I am now a former CPC merchant. Those of us with credit card processing capacities in our businesses have to maintain PCI compliance. Every year we get to fill out a survey indicating that we maintain appropriate care with customer credit card information and other sensitive financial information. I filled out my survey in January and was 100% compliant after receiving an e-mail from CPC directly informing me to do so. A couple of weeks later I received a phone call from nasal Sonja about not being PCI compliant. I told her I was so she started transferring phone calls and told me there would be additional fees accessed to my account for this "non-compliance" yet larger than life I can log on to my account with control scan (yes they outsource their compliance questionaire). I was then sent to another agent and I told her that I was compliant having followed the instructions that CPC had e-mailed me and that I was not spending anymore time on the issue.
I then called my own bank and set up a meeting with them to transfer my credit card processing to them. They are a smaller bank and they know me by name when I go through the drive thru once a week with my deposit. I have a live human being that I can go talk to if there is a problem not a phone menu with option 1, option 2, and option 3.
We live in a world where in demanding 24/7 convenience we have sacrificed competence. We reward enormous companies that only care about the money they can earn from us. They are so big and so cheap, so bottom line that they outsource services and one hand truly does not know what the other is doing. Well CPC you know where you can stick that hand??!!
