If your account is closed why still send a statement ripoff

Like anyone else trying to build their credit, i stupidly signed up for a providian credit card and like i'm sure everyone esle got their lousy 250 credit limit. I usually went online to make my payments sometime minimum sometimes more.
Well this one time money was pretty tight so i was only able to make the minimum payment. I went to their website, selected minimum and had it debited from my bank account. Week or so later i go to my banks online service to check my balance and what have you only to find the i'm overdrawn by nearly 700 dollars. I of course lose my mind and start to investigate.
After speaking with someone from my bank, i learn that providian took the full payment and not the minimum i had selected. When i contacted providian they of course stated that i had indeed selected full payment, i then told them that not even remotely possible, whey would i seclect full payment knowing darn well i didn't have that amount in my checking account. To make a long story short, they wouldn't budge, they insisted that i had selected the full amount of 250 which is exactly what they took from my account, thus causing all my checks and other payments to bounce.By the time i begged and borrowed from family and friends i was out 1700 dollars. I closed the account and still get a monthly bill which i will say is zero, but if your account is closed why still send a statement. Anyway, please. Please. Please think twice before signing up
