In 1999 we got a call from a lady telling us that she could give us a better deal then what we had. We were paying 22% percent for 15 years at 325.00. Well she wrote up something and sent it to us, and she sent a man to do a appraisal on the house. Now in 1999 it was 40,000 now this time in 2000 its 61,000. You have 3 days to change your mind, so on the day we closed I changed my mind. This was on a friday, this lady called me 26 times that weekend, dont hang up, you cant change your mind, you have to do this, this is better for you because in two years from now I can redo the loan for you at a cheaper percent rate. Will monday she had done drove me crazy so I told her to just do it.
Wednesday she call early so I wouldnt change my mind again. My boyfriend he doesnt speak read or write english so he cant tell this lady anything or ask because they dont speak spainsh.
She tell us to met her at DIARY QUEEN, we did and it took maybe fifteen min. There was a man with her who said he was the lawyer for this company.
After that they told us that they would mail the check to us and it would be a few days. Will the next day I went to a place in lexington to pick up the check. Will in about 4 months our a/c broke and Im in bad health so I have to have the a/c.
I called miss lisa back and told her what I needed all with this she said oh we can help you with a another loan! And I said to her but thats not what you told us when we sign the papers. Will she got off and I called around so other places till this one man from another company sent his guy out to look at the house.
This man walk around the house and said to me, what did you say it was 4 months ago? I told him that the other man went inside and looked all around and just wrote down everything he saw. Tree tvs, stove, sofa, etc. Etc. I didnt know till later that he added all the thing in the house and then some for the apprasial. Like 30,000 in personal things.
If i would of had 30,000 in things like furn. Etc. I would not of had to mortgage our home. This is my boyfriends home but because he is from cuba and is wenting for his papers to finsh, I signed the loan because they said that till he becames a citizen he cant borrow any money from a bank.
Will this last man that did the apprasial told us that they couldnt see how this other man got 61,000 when he said it might be more like 39,000 to 40,000. So I asked him how can it be 40,000 in 1998 and 61,000 in 2000 and then in about 4 months drop to 40,000 again.
Like I said we both have learning problem, he doesnt speak english and I have trouble with my words, so I went to leagl aid for help. This man at leagl aid told us that some copys were missings and something about the truth in lending papers. He said we could do something about this so we took them to court.
Mr. Parker told us not to pay any payments, will we been back and forth trying to get thing right, will due to a
little matter with mr. Parker he is not helping us any more. Now these people told mr. Parker they would like to make a settelment with us. They said forget all late charges all paynents for the last 4 years if we would sign a paper saying it was worth 51,000 and pay them 340.00 a month for 30 years and agree that we wouldnt sue.
I told them noway because the house was not worth 51,000 and yes I was going to sue if I could find a good lawyer that could help us. The house is a little starter home, nothing big two bedrooms but it was our home and if this lady hadnt run a good line or i should say worry the fire out of me I would have till been at household. Even if it was very high, by now we would have been allmost done paying. If we lose our home because of this Im going to make sure they never do any one else like they did us.
If the man had not jack up that appraiasl we might not be in this mess! No I know we wouldnt! Im slow and Lazaro doesnt speak english but thats no reason to steal old peoples home or people like us. So here we sit a house that maybe worth 39,000 and a loan against it for 46,000 plus it screw up our credit and in 30 days from the 8th of july if I dont get some one to help us we will be in the street. I dont know how people like this can sleep at night. Please stop these people from doing it again.
The house has bad wiring, the floors in bathroom are falling in plus the house has asbestos tiles all around the house. But in all its was our hometill we got RIPOFF.
