Wells Fargo
Ripoff! It's the usual scam

Nothing new but I just wanted to add my experience with the sad joke of a bank called Wells Fargo.

The scenario was that my wife was looking into health insurance. The health insurance company asked for her banking information to have their payments directly drafted from our checking account. She informed the insurance company that she needed to discuss the offered plan with me before finalizing, which was agreed to by the health insurance company. Just to be on the safe side, my wife gave the health insurance company the wrong routing numbers so that no money could be deducted from the account. She did not sign anything to give them authorization to draft any money either.

Sure enough, a couple days later there shows the draft on our account from the Health insurance company. When she called Wells Fargo she got the usual poor service backed with the "it's your fault" mentality. She asked them how someone was able to take money out of our account when they didn't even have the correct routing number, NOT to mention, any authorization etc. You all know the answer, there was none. Everyone knows exactly where this leads to; the only way possible is if someone at WF assisted them with this theft. It took us a week to get the money refunded to our account, this naturally after having to threaten a lawsuit. Fortunately this charge didn't over draw us or I'm SURE the overdraft fees would have been added as well.

Even sadder is all the posts from these obvious moron employees of Wells Fargo telling people to balance thier check book etc. It's so clear that WF is in the business of screwing people over. We specifically DO NOT have over draft protection on our account but, on a different occasion then mention above, when someone pulled out $400 dollars without a check, authorization or ANYTHING, guess what WF did? Yup, they let em. Sure didn't have the answer once again when asked how they decided to fund this request when there is NO overdraft protection on the account.

Wells Fargo helps people steal money from your account because it helps them charge you fees. I think they were pretty upset with that one though. Not only did they have to put the money back in because they weren't authorized to pay it out but they couldn't charge a NSF/Overdraft etc fee because that is not enabled on our account. Oh, but did I have some taste of victory? Nah, they just hit me the next day for a $10 yearly bill pay fee that we supposedly signed up for when we first opened the account. Do you think they cared we have never used the service ONCE? Nope...

Bottom line is that this is a crooked company. I am a realistic person and I KNOW where the banks get most of their income, from fees. HOWEVER, it is morally wrong and a dishonest business practice to intentionally conduct your daily operations so that there is a HIGHER percent chance a fee will be collected. I.E., cashing larger checks first so the many smaller checks hit with each getting a charge or fee assessed to them.

This will be my 2nd and last time using Wells Fargo, I don't need to get screwed over a 3rd time. It's very clear now that it doesn't matter if you have a little or a lot of money in your account; they will still find a way for you to pay for your "free checking".
