Aspire Visa
Refused to allow me to cancel the card without paying the annual fee. Rip-off!

I ordered the card from Aspire in Jan. 2004. No where in the information did it say I had to pay an annual fee, or that is I decided not to keep the card I had to pay that fee anyway.

Once I received the card package, I saw the fees and there were many. I decided not to activate the card and called to tell them this. They inform me very rudely that I had to pay all the fees anyway. They amounted to 198.00.

So instead of checking this info out. I activated the card. Big mistake. I have had nothing but problems ever since. They changed my due date without telling me. They charged me 35.00 late fee which put me over the limit. Then they charged me an over the limit fee of 35.00.

I called and thought I had straightened everything out. WRONG! My next billing statement came in the charges were back on the bill, with a double payment due. I called again, and again, and again only to get voice mail.

Finally someone called and told me that 1- they would not have charge me the annual fee if I had not activated the card. 2- they were not going to remove the late fee or the over the limit fee, infact unless I paid the account to below the limit they were going to add more fees.

My limit was 300.00 to start with fees came to 198.00 which left me with 102.00 limit. I used the card only once for 26.00. I now owe $335 most of which are fees. I was never late paying my bill until they changed the due date long after it was due. The orginial due date was the 14th, I received the new date with a bill on the 11th. The new due date was the 3rd.

I met another lady who never used her card and owes $576. She tried to cancel it and they refused. Charging her the annual fee and all the other fees they are adding monthly to her account.

Someone has to do something about this company. An attorney friend of mine said if we all got together a filed a law suit against Aspire, they would either have to refund our money or go out of business.
