First Consumer's National Bank, or FCNB, or Cardmember Services as they call themselves today, have the habit of "forgetting" to mail you a bill, and if you are like me, you have many other bills that sometimes, you'll overlook this little scam of theirs, and forget to pay their bills, which results in hefty late charges, interest, AND a bad mark on your credit files to boot!
They send you letters of "appeasement"; offering you a "deal", but not sending you a bill for that month! This "bait and switch" tactic must make them millions as most consumers aren't as astute enough to see their tricks, and then forget to ask for a bill that they never got, which result in those profitable late fees, and sky-high interest rates for that bank.
But for those who have been ripped off by this latest FCNB/Cardmember Services tactic, don't be all too sad!
Rooted in the federal Fair Credit Billing Act, if you are not billed, you cannot pay, and since FCNB is a revolving/open end kind of creditor, it is THEIR responsibility to bill you each and every month ON TIME. Not yours. So keep track each and every month of those statements!
Simply write to them and send the letter certified mail with return receipt requested, and tell them that you haven't gotten your bill for that month. As this is a billing dispute, they can't report bad things on you, and they have to suspend late charges and interest until the dispute is resolved.
Don't let them rip you off more than they already have!
Be vigilant. Since they've suspended all FCNB accounts back in March (03/07) they've suddenly become this monster of a creditor that uses every rip-off scheme in the industry, and as you can see these reports here, they are out to get you, so you are forwarned by thousands of other people on this site.
Don't let them add you to their growing list.
