Wells Fargo Home Mortgage
Ripoff Keep good records, Because they are gonna screw you! They are like financial vampires! They will suck your wallet dry!

Lets see... Where to begin.

We purchased our house in 6/98. Our original mortgage company was First Union. Wells Fargo purchased the mortgage in I believe 3/00. Things were ok for a while.

Then we started noticing "unpaid late charges" for payments that were not late. Trying to fight those was like pulling teeth. Everyone you talked to had a different answer, or said that the previous person had no right to tell you what they did.

Fast forward to 2002. We started having financial trouble and fell behind in the mortgage. My husband and I were working with people in their mortgage modification program to have the loan re-aged. We faxed all the financial information that they requested and were told to call them in 1-2 weeks and we should be all set.

When I called back they said they never received the information, could we please re-fax it. We did and called a couple of days later (per their request again)

By now, we had a present in our door from Reiner Reiner & Bendett (their lawyers) Foreclosure paperwork! After contacting Wells Fargo about this and the fact that we were supposed to be working towards re-aging the loan, we were told that they could no longer help us because the foreclosure proceedings had begun. Just lovely.

After much consideration, we decided to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy. But the screwing continues. We figured the easiest way to make the payments was by W.U. Quick COllect. Same as cash, received immediately, right? WRONG!!! Twice now Wells Fargo has held our Western Union payment (the last one for 14 days) Just long enough for the payment to become "late" and for them to have their lawyers file paperwork with the Trustee and the Court for a Motion for Relief of Stay!

Now add another couple hundred dollars on for attorneys fees plus court costs! All because they held the damn payment. We have the Western Union receipt with the date and time, and their only response is "Sorry, it's up to the processor. It has to go to 3 other people before it gets there. If the processor gets it late, then it's up to them whether or no they want to accept it, or forward it to the lawyers for further action" Real nice huh?

We are now trying desparately to refinance just to get away from these crooks! We have found a mortgage company to do this even with us still being in active Chapter 13.

ALAS!!! Here's the latest. When we first bought our house, in 1998, we mortgaged $95000. Here we are in 2004 and Wells Fargo is saying our payoff is over $103000. I requested a payoff from them in January. I have a payoff letter dated 1/14/04 saying the payoff is over $10 I have another one dated 1/19/04 saying the payoff is over $103000! Over $1000 increase in just 5 days!!!

Now keep in mind, they are getting $950/month for mortgage payments, plus money from the Trustee to pay on the arrearages (They have received over $3000 for that so far) Looking further into the paperwork, Wells Faro has charged us TWICE for all of their fees, and $5000 for something they are calling "Recoverable Corporate Advances"

To date, no one, including their lawyers will explain exactly what that is! Also no one will explain why our payoff is almost $14000 higher than what our balance shows! (The balance is somewhere around $89000)

I called yesterday to ask them why the payoff they gave me in January for $103000 is still $103000 in April. They have received over $3000 from me since then. The customer Service rep told me she cannot tell me that info over the phone. She would forward the request to the processing department to get me an accurate number. This should take 24-72 hours to process.

It seems like the more we pay them, the more we owe them!
My marriage is stretched to its breaking point because of the stress that these vultures have been causing. Beware of any dealings you may have with this company! They are like financial vampires! They will suck your wallet dry!
