I will write this as brief as I can, this happened to us around 03-99 or 04-99. Is when it started, is what I should say. We were with a mortgage co. Called "First Alliance" mortgage, we had taken out a home improvement loan, with "First Alliance", and also to "lower" our interest rate.
After about 6 or 7 months, we were then "transferred" to another mortgage co. Called "Ocwen" During a phone call, from this co. They told us that "First Alliance mortgage co" went bankrupt. So they were taking over. From the first statement they (Ocwen) had sent us, they had ridiculous fees, and charges that we couldn't believe! They called it "Escrow" costs. We didn't understand any of it.
They would call so many times, we would get a return phone number, which they were all 1-800 phone numbers, and, when we returned the call it would be in a different state, a different person, and we would have to tell them why we were calling back, and the person on the other end didn't know what in the world we were talking about. Then the next day we would get another phone call, I mean they were baggering us day after day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day with harrassing phone calls.
They even sent us a few threatening to forclose on us. They claimed, we weren't sending our house payments, and even saying we didn't have home ownere insurance! They had us a nervous wreck!
My husband has always handled everything, always was a strong, no play around guy. I mean all of what these people did, caused my husband to stop work (he was self employed) He was worried of what kind of phone calls I would have to deal with, He was aggrivated, ridiculed, by these people, I mean he was so stressed, and nervous, that I believe they (Ocwen) helped him have a heart attack! On one phone call to (Ocwen), I called them to see if we could possibly refinance, to see if that would help our problems, but the guy on the other end said "we don't do that here, call around to other finance cos." I was surprized!
So we had been receiving advertizements from other mortgage cos. "Spectrum" was one, and I think the agent, did want to help us, but for some reason, he couldn't help us. We then called "Ameriquest" In a very reasnable length of time, The agent Refinanced us, and took this 100 ton thing off of our backs! Every thing was all good, However, Ocwen did keep calling Ameriquest for what reason I don't know.
After a year with Ameriquest, we wanted to lower our intrest rate again! As they seemed lower at this time 2002 (I believe) So we received an advertisement from "New Century home loans" And we refinanced through them, after the third monthly house payment that we made, we find out that we're under "Ocwen" again.
Like I said before, Its kind of spooky! Why did they buy our loan back again? Is there anything we can do? Please help us.By the way we'v been on time with our house payments, we send them via western union, to make sure, we have proof! Again - Please help
