I went to an Amscot store to purchase a money order. After purchasing the m/o, I realized that i had made a mistake filling out the money order and had to ask the amscot employee if she could replace it for a new one. She said "no problem, we can give u a new one,
I just need your ID". Then she comes back to me with this form for me to fill out, supposely to update my records. Little did I know that Amscot was going to keep the money order money without any previous explanation or questions. I do acknowlege i have a pending balance with Amscot that needs to be paid., that is not the discussion here. Amscot is supposed to disclose that if you have a pending balance with their institution, then you are not supposed to go there and buy money orders or do any other transacion money related at all because they will keep your money. This lady treated me like if I was a kid. Making me fill out forms, and lieying about the pursose of the forms.
Amscot employees acted like "Okay she is here, lets get her"... I think in this country we have rights. Even when you are about to be convicted for a crime or when u get arrested, deputies do have to tell you what your rights.
Amscot employees acted with me like if they were conducting a SECRET Mission in order to get me pay them by any means. This has to stop. Amscot is a financial institution, yet not a bank. A money order has nothing to do with a balance due to them. When u go to a bank to make a deposit, u know they will deduct any negative amount u might owe, but this is not the case, PURCHASING A MONEY ORDER is way too different from making a deposit. I did not go to Amscot to make a deposit. They dont even know if this was mine own mone or somebody elses. They HAVE to tell customers before they act. They need to DISCLOSE information. It is unlawful to lie in order to get somebody to pay. I even asked to lady to return the money order back to me, she said IT WAS TOO LATE.
All the personal problems that this has created for me is not even worth to mention (unless somebody wants to discuss this issue and have any means to help to prevent from this happening to somebody else again) becase what I am reporting the way they are conducting business. And should be penalized. Wish i could explain this situation better, but my english vocabulary is kind of limited since english is not my primary language.
