Courtesy? What happened to Courtesy?

Go into any Wells Fargo Bank and on their wall you will see a quote from Henry Wells about "courtesy". Well the Wells Fargo branch in Keansburg, NJ needs to have an employee workshop to "revamp" and remind their employees what "courtesy" is. Perhaps a simple dictionary would help. Patti, a common teller, and her so-called teller manager, Kristen or Kirsten, whatever her name is could certainly use a inservice on what it means to be courteous.

I went to cash a $300 check which was given to me by my grandmother. My grandmother is 84 years old, and has difficulty writing, so her signature on the check was a little "messed-up". Well, anyway, I go to cash this check that was written to me, and I get this teller, Patti, who perhaps because she only makes $300 a week, was very nasty in how she told me that I had to go get another check from my grandmother because the handwriting didn't match what they had on file. After telling her and her teller-manager "K", that they could very easily call my grandmother on the phone and confirm that she was indeed the one who actually wrote the check and that the check was not forged.

Now mind you, this option was not even offered to me; I was the one who had to suggest them calling my grandmother to verify the check, after Patti tossed the check under her glass window and ordered me to get another check from my grandmother. They could have offered to do that if they were not so nasty and suspicious. I offered to call my grandmother and have them speak to her on my cell phone; the "K" person manager said, in a stern, uncourteous tone that they had to call the number that was on my grandmother's bank file. Of course I told them "be my guest". After confirming that my grandmother indeed wrote the check, the "K" manager tried to smile at me, and this Patti person, still had an attitude, so I asked for her name because she was not wearing a name tag; and wanted to speak to the general manager of the branch. Of course Patti never gave me her name and just pointed me in the direction of the manager's office. It was from him, who was very understanding that I got their names from him. He gave me both their first and last names which I jotted down on a small piece of paper and unfortunately lost.

I went into a Wells Fargo Branch in Holmdel and opened up an account and they were the best of the best. I have nothing but excellent things to say about them. They even stayed after closing hours to help me open my account. So therefore, if one Wells Fargo can be courteous, then so can another; especially since that is the motto on their wall.
