Joined "PROGRAM" in Sept. 2003. Made a phone call to one of my largest creditors on Dec. 11 to see why it was taking them so long to accept the Letter of Proposal. Creditor says they have never received a Letter of Proposal from Debt Relievers. The creditor is giving me a statement in writing that they have not received Letter of Proposal.
I was upset to learn that after 3 months into the program that they hadn't even been notified. I informed Debt Relievers, that they were in breach of contract for failure to send a letter of proposal in a timely manner, and that I wanted a refund of my "In House Payment". Their reply was that they had made 3 payments to that creditor. (I am not disputing that) Debt Relivers was paying $260. For the last 3 months, in addition I was paying $131. To keep account current. (monthly payment is $391.) I kept an eye on this account because it was my largest creditor and I didn't want to get behind in that because they can change my interest rate from 16% to 24%.
I was lead to believe that negotiation was going on and that it can take up to 3-6months. Thinking that in due time the creditor would accept the Letter of Proposal. How can they? Creditor didn't receive notice. Then I was asked to fill out another Proposal-Financial Addendum so they can present the proposal. From that point I decided I was going to take care of my own financial obligations. Debt Relievers still refuse to give me a refund.
