I was ripped off. They are liars and thieves.
I wanted to refi my home in December, and I also wanted $20,000 cash out for some home projects. I have enough equity in my home to do that. Sherry Hansen was the loan officer I was dealing with, and she kept pushing me to proceed with the loan. She wanted upfront fees. I told her no, not without knowing I was approved. She said, "You are approved, we should have you closed in a couple weeks," so I went ahead and paid the fees, $535.00.
I didn't hear anything for a couple weeks, so I tried calling several times, left messages, and tried emails. Finally I got a response saying I was denied??? I could not believe it after she assured me I was approved.
I am a bricklayer and I get laid off when it is cold. I let her know when I applied that I was collecting unemployment. She said seasonal employment was fine. I was denied for not collecting unemployment in 08-09. I couldn't believe it. So I said I wanted my money back, because I would have never paid those fees, but she stated I was already approved. Citi says no money will be refunded. She said, "I asked you if you collected unemployment every year." That is a lie. She asked if I was laid off. I still have all her emails.
I tried to contact her supervisor, Michael Fauth, and he won't contact me back. I tried several other calls and cannot get anyone to talk to me.
P.S. She told me I had until mid April to reapply after I was back to work. I just tried, and they say I don't qualify for a 10 yr loan (7 yrs left now). When I tell them what she said, they say seasonal employment is not acceptable and the application should have never been taken.
Still I have no answers.
