I received a letter from Certegy Payment Recovery Services saying a company payroll check was returned unpaid. I called them. They had the check number, an invoice number, and a copy of the physical check with a signature on it.
The check in question was not a payroll check. It was to a Science Museum. I called the Museum and they had received and cashed the check a month ago.
When I called Certegy back, they insisted that the "payroll" check was returned to a Wal-mart for insufficient funds.
