MY Funding Sources
US Legal Funding advertised to help refinance my house, and then told me they could get me grants and loans if I went back to school

To whom it may concern,
In September I was looking on the internet for someplace to refinance my home. I was behind on payments. I found US Legal funding and they advertised they could help you get the money to get your home out of foreclosure. I talked to Keith Nelson I told him how much money we had made in 2009 which is what he asked for. He then told me he had gotten me approved for $9500.00 and my husband approved for $6500.00. Then he told me we would have to go to school online for this money I also asked him how much of that money we were going to have to pay out for tuition and I was told that he had gotten us grants that would pay for the tuition and we would get the full amount for living expenses.
At no time was I ever told how much the tuition would cost with this school. All Keith told me was that the school he had enrolled us in Quoting Keith“ you get more bang for your buck then other schools”. Had I have known how much they charge I could have enrolled here in Idaho online for way less, or I could have taken classes at the school. The tuition was $7800.00 for twelve credits I ended up with $1700.00 that is $650.00 per credit I could have gone here locally for $120.00 per credit. Plus my husband could have gone for nothing he is 65 years old. I trusted this man to get me the best deal but quite obviously I should have checked it out before hand. Also my daughter got on line and filled out her fafsta by herself, but yet I was charged $1000.00 by US legal funding to do the same thing.
I was also assured that that we would have the money in 45 days. When I did not get any money I contact the school and they told me that I would not be getting any money till I had been actively enrolled and doing studies for 30 to 45 days.
Mr. Nelson insists that the amount I had told him and he filed was different then the amount on out tax return, yes there was a difference we had made less then what was originally thought. So that should have made the amount we got even more.
I told me he would send our lender a promissory note, he never got anything, Keith told me he would send me the note to sign and I never got anything to sign. And my lender never got anything either. That is why I tried to contact him both by email and phone to see why I hadn't got any note to sign. Do you think the lender would want a promissory note not signed? I would like proof that this was sent to me and also sent to my lender!
I am saying this could have been handled a lot differently if I had known that my lender would never be contacted or that I would never receive enough money to catch up on my mortgage I would have done something different like get an other job or I would have tried to borrow the money somewhere but I was counting on getting the money Keith told me we would be getting.
My home is gone. My husband has cancer and on hospice, six months to live. But I am finishing college so I can pay back the loans.
