This is the most appalling company I have had the pleasure of being associated with. My problems with this company started a couple of years ago. I had started making payments on time then one moving to another state and being separated from my husband, I ran into some problems with making my payments.
Once I was able I make payments to them, but still had a hard time. I received a call from someone in their collection department, who stated that they could help me bring my account back up to date. I make arrangements to make additional payments every two weeks, thinking this would help. When I called customer service I was informed that my account was still being charged over the limit fees. I in turn repeated what the arrangement was that I was informed that all fees would stop.
The customer service rep said that as long as I was over the limit, I would continue to be charged the $35.00. What I needed to do was pay that completely off, inorder for the fees to stop. As of today, I am now receiving calls from their collection department harrassing me for the over the limit fees of $502.78.
I told the man that I just did not have the money, and I would not until I return back to work the following month. He kept on insisting and asked me if I could give them a check on the phone of $200 plus and then another payment 2 weeks later. Just what about this "you are not getting".
I just do not have that kind of money right now. I am not behind in my payments which was made on time. If I can not give you $200 plus then where would I get the money from if I am not working now. I am on disability. I then was told that when I returned back to work that I could call then and make the arrangements. Thinking that this was settled but I recieved another call the following week asking for the same thing.
But, this time the gentleman was rude and told me sell my assets or can I get the money from someone I knew. I was so appalled, it made so angry, I asked to speak to his supervisor. His supervisor was no help. After looking at my statement, I called back to customer service because I was told that I was being continously charged the over the limit fee, but I did not see it reflected on my statement.
I was told that I was not being charged that I was being misinformed. I once again spoke to someone in the collection department and was told I was not late, the only problem is that I still owned the over the limit charges. I was told I could call back when I return back to work the next month and make arrangement to pay that off.
Once again thinking everything was okay, today I received another call, I asked the gentleman not to call me anymore, it is now a form of harrasment. He stated he had no record, I just hang up. I have had enough of theses people in their harrasments. They are people who do not want to help you. My other creditors worked along with me until they were payed off. Providian is not one of them. I really hate this company and can't wait till I do pay them off. This is my first priority. "Get Rid Of Them".
I would never recommend them to anyone. The amount I owe is less than $1,100.00 and I have been making my minumium payments on time. There is another thing I keep asking myself and that is how do you charge over the limit fees or other fees to an account that is "CLOSED". They did that on their own. I hate this company!!!
