My credit card was fraudulently charged $7,000.00 by the Allen Construction company of Bridgeport, CT. Bank ONE Credit Card is not to be trusted and I recommend that all of their customers BEWARE. They still are attempting to hold me liable to a fraudulent charge of $7,000.00, without my knowledge or authorization of it. The DO NOT even have a signed draft pertaining to this charge.

It is also impossible to reach their investigations department by phone, You have to wait for them to return your call (if they choose to).
I discovered than that on October 28 he charged my credit card for a payment of $7,000.00. This was un-authorized by me and it was a fraudulent charge. I can only assume that he kept my credit card number on file from the previous smaller roofing job which he performed.
I or my wife DID NOT provide him with any credit card information during the signing of the contract.
We have never signed any charge card draft.
We never signed anything with respects to use of any credit cards.
I immediately requested a charge back to my Bank One Visa card, informing them of a fraudulent charge. I spoke to a Mr. John Oketta at their fraud division. His contact information is: 800-380-6531 extension #16021, fax number is 614-776-7741.
Mr. Oketta said that he would ask Allen Construction for a signed sales draft, and he would continue the investigation. I had assured him that I never signed any sales drafts. Allen Construction replied to Bank One with a copy of my sales contract, not a draft as requested. Upon my inspection of this document I was shocked to see that some person amended this old contract and appended my credit card number at the bottom of the contract.
This was added on at a later time and I immediately reported this to Mr. Oketta. I also stated to him an additional time that:
We DID NOT provide him with any credit card information during the signing of the contract
We have never signed any charge card draft.
We never signed anything with respects to use of any credit cards.
We were totally unaware that he had our credit card number on his files.
Credit card companies advertise that their customers are safe against unauthorized transactions. I however am not quite feeling that sense of security at the moment, this has been a nightmare.
I have heard many horrific stories about people that have been robbed in similar transactions like this, but never though that I would be joining the statistics. Allen Construction is no longer to be trusted and he is openly lying and attempting to steal this money. Even the Connecticut BBB suggested that I contact our local Consumer Protection Agency against Allen because of many other complaints on their files.
If Bank ONE is reading this, listen carefully: I will NEVER pay for this charge because it is FRAUDULENT. If you allow this contractor to rip off $7,000 for not doing anything, then he will be robbing your money, NOT MINE!
