I was contacted by phone, at my home, and told that World Benefits was affiliated with my bank. As a part of that affiliation I was offered a credit card that would be secured with a $299 enrollment fee. Along with the card, I was told that enrolling in the program would be a demonstration to my bank, via the affiliation, of my intent to improve my credit rating. As a result of that affiliation, I would be eligible for improved credit ratings from my bank.
I have contacted my bank, and they have denied having any affiliation with World Benefits. I have not received the credit card that I was offered. I have received a packet of useless information that I have no interest in whatsoever. If I had not been lied to about the affiliation with my bank, and what I would be receiving for my $299, I would never have paid for the "product".
I have called the number that I was given during the initial contact, and they said there is nothing they can do. That they are not Word Benefits.
I have called the "Customer Service" company that the phone number is for, and requested the "verbal contract" that I agreed to to make sure that I was not mistaken in thinking that all that was included was my consent for the fee to be paid, and that if I needed to cancel, I would have to do that 3 days prior to the transfer. I did try and cancel, but they said that I didn't give enough notice with a holiday weekend coming up and that it was 3 business days.
The "product" that is offered is a packet of infrmation printed off of the internet by all appearances. It's been 4 months and I still have not received everything that I was offered in the phonecall, and I have called the number 4 times to let them know. Every time they say "We'll send that right out to you, and it should be there with 3-7 weeks."
If they've called you, and you've agreed, cancel the payment and agreement ASAP or you will have $299 worth of nothing.
